Bovill & Boyd have access to a huge range of standard off-the-shelf imperial and metric o’rings. For non-standard sizes we have manufacturing facilities in the UK and a Joint Venture company in China.
All o’rings and seals can be manufactured in varying hardnesses.
Where appropriate we can supply Moulded Join o’rings – next best thing to a fully moulded o’ring.
Genuine Dupont compounds available if required.
We can supply o’rings that are manufactured from materials that have been accepted for use by the UK MoD under Defence Standard 02-337 (NES 337).
Compounds available include-
A unique fluoroelastomer providing excellent resistance to heat and chemicals.
Useful acid / alcohol resistance
|Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer (EPDM)
Ozone weathering resistance.
|FEP Encapsulated O’rings
The elastomeric core is completely covered with FEP fluoropolymer resulting in increased chemical resistance and wide temperature range.
Heat, oil and ozone resistance.
Wide temperature range of silicones with improved resistance to fuels and mineral oils.
|Hydrogenated Nitrile (HNBR)
Higher temperature resistance and strength than standard nitrile rubber.
|Natural Rubber (NR)
Outstanding mechanical properties.
Very good heat and oil resistance.
Even greater heat and chemical resistance than the fluoroelastomers.
High tear strength and good wear resistance.
|Styrene Butadiene Rubber (SBR)
The highest volume general purpose synthetic rubber.
|Silicone Rubber (SiR)
Excellent high and low temperature resistance.
EDR Materials: Explosive Decompression (ED), also referred to as Rapid Gas Decompression (RGD), causes fissuring and results in seal failure. Bovill & Boyd can offer o’rings and seals manufactured from materials that have beeen specifically developed to resist this phenomenon.
Back-up Rings: Normally used to prevent excessive deformation of o’rings in high pressure situations. Available in PTFE, PEEK, Delrin. Can be supplied plain or scarf cut to ease installation.
Rubber Quad Rings: Double-acting four lip seals that provide higher seal efficiency and lower friction than conventional o’rings. Most commonly used in reciprocating applications but can be used as static seals.
